Just wondering what your thoughts are about this guy. I see he has a new website with tractors listed on it for sale.

I've never met him personally so cant say much. I enjoy his show and since I was in the used farm machinery business for years several years ago I heard of him way back when he was just getting started creating a record of auction sale prices and surely want making much money at it back then. Now he has a show on RFD TV, advertisers and his own website, good for him he's worked for years at developing his name, brand and business, and likely earning a decent living for all his years of work.

I have known of Greg Peterson AKA Machinery Pete for years. I just finally got to actually talk to him a few years ago. He is a stand up fellow. He has had the plans for a machinery advertisement section on his site for a while now. He is targeting the smaller dealers and farmers that have equipment to sell/advertise. The cost of advertising on other sites like, Tractorhouse, has became quite expensive for smaller sellers. So he is trying to have a more economical service for them.

His father own/ran a JD dealership in MN. So he has grown up around farm machinery. I think it makes his shows and site closer to actual facts than many in this business.

He would not control what sellers asked for their equipment. As for the listings of actual selling prices he documents all that. Good equipment will still bring a good price. The antique equipment market is much more regional than actual working equipment. An example would be how Bryce post about how he can find this or that tractor in his area, Idaho, for lets say $500. Guys post from other parts of the country that that same model would bring $1500-2000. Well it could easily take $1000 to ship that tractor to where the higher market would be so there is not much incentive to do that. Now lets say the same situation but with a $100,000 tractor and there is market where it can bring $110,000. Then you could afford to ship it to the better marketing area.

Also you have to remember that the advertised price on many pieces of equipment are just guys fishing. The actual selling price would be considerable less. Everyone has their own idea of what works best for them in selling. I like to post a fair price without tons of dickering room. Other fellows like to way over price and then haggle down to a selling price. I just do not have the time. So I pretty much advertise where I want to be and let the chips fall.

Several years ago when I had an old Steiger to sell, I called to find out what I could hope to get out of it. It was an odd time, like the weekend, or late in the day. He answered, himself! I was surprised, and told him so. He was all business, no BS. He would sell me as much or as little info. as I wanted. If everyone in the machinery business was like him, it would be a pleasure.

I know he has been around a while, and has found his "niche" in the business, However, it doesn't mean the listings are a fair market price just because his name and picture is on the website. Just hope his reputation doesn't get damaged.....

I emailed back and forth with him a few years back about some equipment values. Always responded quickly and gave his honest opinion when I asked about one he'd never heard of selling. Won me over.

Super nice guy, great to chat with. Really seems to have a passion for what he does. He kinda lights up if a good topic comes up for him.

Talked with him at 3-4 aipuctions over the years.

Always figure I won't be buying anything if I see him there; he goes to the high selling cherry machinery auctions. ;)

Nice guy, nice website. Have emailed him back and forth a few times. I subscribe to his website. I wish his reports were a little more particular but he can only report what information he was given also. I do watch his videos also. I disagreed with his reporting of the Kean Tummel auction last year where he said the D21 was an all time record price. Well there was an exception, someone added a FWA to the tractor but he never drew attention to that fact about it. The one that sold last year at the Zaechies museum was actually the highest price for a standard D21.
