Made it home

Got home last evening.

Was a relatively uneventful trip. I borrowed that trailer from work and it is heavy. I'm guessing it weighs 12,000 empty. So the Ford was fully loaded both ways. Gross weight out was 33,000 and back was 31,400, so the v10 had a hard time. Plus that combine catches a lot of wind. I was hoping the home trip would be better since I would be lighter and it's all down hill, but the combine caught the wind so bad that it pulled harder. So it was 1600+ miles with the throttle firmly on the floor. Burned a LOT of gas. Lol. Did have one small issue, on the way home she developed a miss and I had to stop and fix that. Orielys put their scanner on it and found the miss on number four cylinder and this is what I found.

Guess 15 years and 156,000 miles is too much for the original spark plugs. Put a new one in and she ran great the rest of the way.

I am anxious to get it unloaded and ready for oats in a week or so. Hot here today tho, and getting some rain now so unloading will wait a bit.

Good for you on safe trip bringing home treasures.
You must be getting near the upper limit on GVCW or GVWR.
Thanks for the pictures.

Gross weight 3,000! Wow!
Guys, make a note.... don't buy a used vehicle from Jon :)
Didn't pass many gas stations did you?

Correction!

Won't say the mileage was bad, but I had to shut the engine off at the station or the tank wouldn't get full.

Good to hear you made it home. On my half ton 03 Ram with the 5.7 Hemi I can pull most anything, power she has. But if I have a load with a lot of wind restriction I just have the fuel truck follow me around, Rod.

I don't suppose you'd be interested in an open station 600 would you? It needs a lot of TLC or it can be used for parts. If you know of anyone that is looking for such a combine for any reason have them contact me here with the subject Case 600 combine.
