Magnetic induction heater

Where has this been all my life? 2006 nissan murano rear shock nuts would not move on studs. Not a good place to work with torch and open flame so I bought one of these. Unbelievable less than 10 minutes had all 4 nuts off using my 1/4 inch nut driver. These were 14mm nuts they heated cherry red in less than 25 seconds no open flame will work on up to 1 1/2 inch nuts. Think I paid 140$ for complete kit on amazon. Google them it works

I have used induction heaters for years. Like you said. Much better than a torch in many places. I like the fact that everything within 5 feet is not heated to where you get burnt if you touch it.

The one I use most is a 2300 watt Snap on branded heater that belonged to my dad and has interchangeable tips from 1/2" to 2".

I was just talking about that same issue on a Nissan. I had just quit dipping 6 are 8 weeks out when I ran into a issue replacing the rear shocks. It was the only time since I had quit the dip I wanted a dip real bad.

I had one break free but it took the threads out so the nut just spun in place. You do not want to replace that stud its welded in place. When they built the car they welded those studs in place then built the car around it. It was a challenge to save that stud.

I have had a induction heater for 20 years it has its place but it will never replace a torch. Mine was $700 on sale.

They had one at work. It worked often. Sometimes it doesn’t. For the specific head stud application if they were still protruding it works fantastic

Anymore especially if it’s aluminum head I let the machinist pull it out for the 25 dollars on a broken one and move on. I have not purchased one since working for myself

Bearing heater was same idea only reverse also a good tool however that is easier replaced for the money and controlled with a toaster oven
