@jkane I am addressing you because your name seems to come up the most for moderator issues. First let me say Thank You! for all the effort you and the other moderators put in here, much appreciated! 
Now the “meat and potatoes” it says in the “Major Software Update” thread in the “The Good” segment that it has the possibilities for “Tons of new features and the ability for us to tailor the experience of the forums much easier.”
Other than the “Dark mode” I am not aware of anything other features that have been introduced. I can’t speak for the speed of which new members are onboarded, maybe that is indeed a big plus.
So what are the other “Tons of features”? Secondly how valuable will they be to the users here? We already have a few features here that when used in my opinion only add confusion. I am talking about Question and Poll options when making a thread. A couple times the “poll” option has been used as it was supposed to be but that’s it. A small explanation box pinned in that section would be helpful and/or a link to another location that explains them in detail would be great. I know questions like this were posed in the past and I know on at least one occasion a moderator replied that “we seem to have a community of members that will jump in and help others out with this sort of thing” is that really what should be relied on? Whatever these “new features” are if they are to function on these same terms maybe we are better without them.
I hate to sound “pointed” about this but I don’t know of any other way.
Trust me I appreciate having this “add free” forum atmosphere to share in dialect about our interests, but a bit of process provided for few things could definitely smooth it out a bit.
