Make hole in socket

I would like to make a fairly round 1 inch + hole in my 3/4 inch drive socket. Anybody ever had luck doing this?

I have milled slots into some of my chrome 1/2" drive sockets for removing rectifiers from the control panels on electric forklifts. I would think it would be no problem on a 3/4" drive.

I have bored holes in several sockets for special uses on my lathe using a carbide tipped boring bar--no problem. Over the years I have made lots of special wrenches for various jobs with ordinary milling cutters, drills, etc.

Quicker to weld a bar to end of socket if you have the space to turn. Another thing is grind down the end to make is shorter for tight quarters. Older 3/4 drive sockets had no extended neck where the ratchet fits. One inch is quarter size hole.

Thanks everyone for ideas. I need to remove the 3/4 drive portion and make a deep socket.
Hole does not need to be perfectly round but has to slide over crankshaft.
