Manifold leak

cvphoto6807.jpg

Ok I have gas leaking from the inlet port on my Allis b. Fitted a new petrol manifold and gasket. It seemed to all go together well be now it?s leaking at this port and the tractor won?t start! Anyone had this problem before and what is the best thing I can do?

have you torqued it in small increments from the centre outward? if that don't bring it in then it needs a milling.

You can cheat with black rtv silicone. take the manifold off, put a good amount of rtv all around the mating surfaces of the manifold, let it cure up , hour or more, and put it back on. Used that on a manifold that had about 1/8 inch burned off it. Or get the manifold milled straight. Good luck.

and one more thing. take an afternoon off and a big file and go to it. I have done that also.

Yep, unless you have a machine to "shave" it, you will have to resort to a big ol' flat file and some elbow grease.
When I went to buy my D-17, I could not get it started. I finally squirted some starting fluid around the intake ports and discovered they were leaking.
The prior owner had just put on a really nice used manifold with new gaskets but it turned out to be warped.
Took a while but I got it trued up real nice spending some time with a big flat file.
