old manure spreader dont know what kind it is think co-op or oliver . problem is i cant get the ground drive to work jusst cant figure it out help please the picture is the side of the apron drive
 
The drive wheels should turn a large sprocket. The lever in front should drop a chain down onto the sprocket, which turns the other gears. The large sprocket should have a dog like clutch which disengages when backing the spreader.
 
AHA! Sounds like you have one of those tame terd hursts- one that doesn't kick the chit out of itself....
 
i cant get the apron to move i can get beaters to work ,do i need to have the beaters in gear to make the apron move
 
No, they are independant in that respect but they work together going forward as they have doges in each wheel to drive them so both wheels will either operate the apron on the beaters only or both.
