Marker For Field Sprayer?

Sometimes when I'm spraying I can't see the tracks of the tractor/sprayer from the previous pass. I understand newer sprayers seem to drop a foam marker periodically that helps. Is there a (cheap) way to add such a marker to my old sprayer? kelly

Hi Kelly

No idea about your situation. Have a look at foam markers or simple GPS units. Less overlap or misses, less time and lower cost. I had a foam marker and have gone to a base level GPS and would not go back.

At this point, it'd be cheaper to throw a GPS lightbar on the tractor. You might find a used foam system cheap somewhere though.

Actually foam makers are a thing of tge past, gps now.

Back in the day I remember seeing plans for a can of shaving cream on each boom, a rope to the tractor seat, and a home made foam marker. Not sure how long a can is good for!

My homemade foam marker system is built from an old hand sprayer tank, some garden hose, 1/2 PVC. and a 12volt compressor. Total cost of $42. I use Dawn dish soap as my foaming agent. For a nozzle an old shower head works great. One thing to note is that the compressor needs to have a check valve and be higher than the tank or when you shut it off water can suck back into the tank.

Kelly, I broke down several years ago and got a foam marker kit from Tractor Supply as they were significantly cheaper than anywhere else. Might be able to find same thing at a comparable store in your area. I had to order mine in as it was in the catalog but not in local store. Don't know for sure if they still carry them though as they don't put out a printed catalog any more, all online catalog. Paul
