massey 1100 puller?

would a massey ferguson 1100 with the 6 cyl. perkins.would it be a good canidate for a puller?..what weight class could i make?...the engine runs pretty good.seems like the pump is turned up ALOT.it blows alot of black smoke...but i was driving around other day and tottaly lost steering brakes ect..all hydralics gone..dont know whats wrong.thanks

As far as hydraulics, make sure you didn't pull up the dump valve pin between your feet. Its to relieve pressure when starting cold. For pulling, I think the biggest problem might be your weight. They tend to be heavy for the horse power. Had one on the farm that ran over 125 hp. Cam advanced one tooth, plenty of fuel. The engine only seemed to last a couple of years between rebuilds though.

drained all hyd.oil..took off cover on bottom the filter was alomost completely pluged with dirt..so i took off cover with the relif valve in it and there is a CESSNA hyd.pump and looks like some bushings are bad..where can i get parts??,,,thanks alot!!

40 years ago the MF 1100's were pretty tough at the pulls..Heres a friend of mine on the left,the late Harris Pyeatte receiving his 1st place trophy at the 1971 MO State Fair..He pulled his 1100 in the 9000 SS class.

Today a warmed up 1100 would do good in a 8-12 mph class at weights from 8000-10,000 lbs.

how did you get it that light??..where can i find a pto delete cover and a narrow front??..thanks alot!.

I've seen 1100 Masseys pull at 7000 lbs...You get rid of the cast rear wheels,the pto,3 pt,etc...You build your own plates to cover everything...Any narrow front can be made to work.

Heres my friends 8000 Ford that pulls the 6250 lb and 8000 lb 10 mph classes with a wide front..He weighs in at 6250 lbs with 200 lbs of movable weight..It has 18.4 x34 tires..

We built a 1150 Massey and an Oliver 2255. Both have light rims and extra removed. Both are good runners. Here is a link for the 2255's run. Will try to get one of the Massey tonight.
