Where abouts in this wide world are you located?

It is easiest to help if the correct info is presented. Do you have a 178, a 175, or both? You past posts seem to be about the same tractor but bounce back and forth between both models. Some pictures of things might help.

Have you invested in the Operator's Manual and the Service Manual for it/them? Do you use the online parts book found at AGCO Parts?

Hi Jim, I'm in Queensland Australia. I'm new to all this. I don't have any Manuals. I can try the online parts you have suggested. I will also send a picture of the bolt, spring and ball, thanks

Being in Australia you may not have access to the AGCO parts site, I mentioned, from your location. You can try this link and see if it works for you.

AGCO parts

If it opens for you, you can pick a country at the upper right of the page. I don't see Australia as a choice. Maybe the Great Britian will work for you. An Agco dealer in your area may be able to tell you what works in your location.

Over the years we have seen some differences show up in tractors from your area and here in North America. I can see a parts book for a 175/178 noted as Great Britian on the parts book site. I do not find any other manuals referencing the 175/178 (GBR) or just the 178 on the AGCOpubs.com site where we can order manuals. A dealer in your area may be able to help you with manuals.

If you can access the parts book, you can take screen shots along with part numbers and descriptions to show what you are looking at; to be sure everyone is discussing the same thing.
