Massey 44 engine replacement

I saw on YouTube a year or so ago that someone put a small engine (12-20 hp) gas lawnmower engine in a Massey 44 tractor.
I can't find it now. How hard would it be to do?

Thanks
Keith

that would be a low gear unit for sure. i would get bored and want to use a horse. wonder what he has for a clutch set up on that thing.

Now, now.
Remember in a previous post that BE really liked the idea, so it's GOT to be feasible. Right?
I don't know if not absolutely $HITTING on the idea for no reason counts as "really liking" it...

Try having a little fun once in a while.

I know where there's an old Case that's been repowered with a 670cc V-twin. They apparently use it, because it's always parked in a different place every time I go by.

How about a 277 from a 44 special with LP pistons ?
Now THAT would have been a fantastic solution. Going back to the original post, he said he wanted the Harbor Freight engine in it while the original engine gets rebuilt by a machine shop. Thats been months ago. If the machine shop hasn’t finished rebuilding the 270 engine yet, it’s at the wrong machine shop. What the 44 owner should have done was buy another tractor to “haul his wood” while the 44 gets rebuilt. Then sell it after and recoup the money. There’s been no reply from the OP on the status of this. I suspect I know the reason.
