I'm putting together an engine and wanting to know if any one can claim if the 44 pistons are the same as the gas or if they still work in a gas tractor

It is unclear what you are asking. If you are comparing diesel pistons to gas pistons, they are NOT the same and would NOT be interchangeable. A Massey 44 could have several different engines, and that may depend on what year the tractor is. Welcome to YT. Better, more complete information is always your friend (and ours). steve

Sorry for the confusion I was asking for the height from wrist pin to the top or compression height
I just got off the phone with a used tractor wrecker/parts dealer and he compared the pistons and the only visible different was another piston ring below the wrist pin
So it seems if the bore is correct (3 7/8 or 4) so the diesel should be able to be used in a gas with diesel ring set

obviously 260 and 277 are different bore
