Behind the pulley there are 4 bolts holding the whole pulley drive assembly into the trans case. Pull the bolts and the drive will come out. Top cover does not need to come off unless you plan on pulling the Front PTO shaft and drive gears. Bevel gear on pulley drive will come out with drive, Bevel gear on PTO shaft will stay on inside. Rear PTO shaft will pull the same way. There's a coupler up between the bull gears under the rear topcover.

i removed the rear pto. it was easy as cutting hot butter. then i removed the cover on the belt shaft and removed the 4 bolts that are bolted to the trans case.i also removed the bolts holding what i think is the bearing twards the wheel. all i can get is about 1/2 inch slack in the shaft itself and the housing bolted to the trans case will not move.

OK so my post may have been a bit vague. The small bolts directly behind the pulley are just for the bearing cover. Remove the 4 bolts where the housing bolts to the trans case and it should come out. The empty holes in the photo... May be your drive is rusted in?

ok that make sense. i removed both the bearing cover and the ones on the trans case. i was just making sure there wasnt anything internal.
