Massey 492

Hey all,
I recently purchased a 2004 Massey 492, 2wd, open station. Both the PTO and the rear lift does not work. Where do I split this tractor to
get at the issue? I understand that this is an independent PTO and the PTO clutch and hydraulic pump are tied together. Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

Should be split right behind the transmission.

What PTfarmer said. Get a manual, and remove the three point top cover first per the manual. Cover has to come off first to remove lines inside before the trans-diff case split can be done.

I have a 491 and there is a hydraulic diverter valve which will prevent the lift arms from raising or lowering. It diverts flow to the rear remotes. It has a knob that you push/pull to change the flow. You may be aware of this but I thought I should mention it just in case.

yes thanks for that information. That valve is in the correct position. No difference.

Thanks. I purchased a manual but it doesn't seem to give great information about the internals. I have parts manual also. Your help is much appreciated.

Thank you for the reply. This tractor has another 'spacer' housing between the rear of the transmission and the rear casting. Should i
split it directly behind the transmission or behind the 8"-10" 'spacer'?
