My tractor failed to start after shutdown from bush hogging and taking a little break. I got a click from the solenoid was all.

I pulled the starter and imagine my dismay when I found the nose cone broken off and wedged against the flywheel. It came out easily and had apparently been broken for a while from the grind marks on the piece. No ring gear damage that I can tell.

I'm trying to find a replacement Delco Remy as thats what the old one is and it has lasted for 55 years. Part 191081M92.
I see several starters on ebay that say they fit, no mention of make and I am suspicious of these. Not to mention descriptions are somewhat lacking.
It s a 10 tooth clockwise rotation I do believe.

I just want a good reliable starter that will last and last...and last.

Can anyone make a good recommendation?

Oh I have found one from forklift central on ebay.
Not as outrageous as I thought it would be, total $197.84 delivered. I'll update when replaced ... and working.

Pretty common starter. A decent rebuild shop could get it done probably for less $$.
The link below is $184.90 shipped. Good Luck!

OK I received the new starter yesterday. On inspection it is ever so slightly different being that the new one does not have a wick at the motor end.

I cleaned all connections and installed the new one without problems. I pulled the clutch inspection plate to check for debris in the bottom, all was good. No odd noises.Tractor started instantly and I finished my cutting on the remaining field. All is right with the world once again.
