how many 98s were built and what is the value on one?

Seems like we had an article in our Oliver magazine some time back about that but not sure if they mentioned the build numbers. A friend of mine purchased one in Illinois 3-4 years ago for $3500. which was a good buy. Depends on total condition. I would like to purchase one to put beside my Super-99 GM and 990 GM.
