Massey Ferguson missing and points burnt

Have MF135 and put several sets of points, two coils, new distributor, two condensers, and when cold will start but when start out, will miss, backfire and die. Usually will not start until cools off. Sometimes burns up new points and sometimes will run for several days. Have verified all parts that replaced. Any suggestions?

1. Where are you getting your parts? I would use only points such as NAPA/Echlin or Standard/Blue Streak for points and condenser. Don't use the cheap parts that come in a kit. I've seen several sets of new points where the tab that rubs against distributor shaft cam is too short and will not allow points to open wide enough to set proper gap.

2. What coil are you getting? For 12 volt it must be either a "12 volt no resistor required" that should measure 3 ohms across + and - post. (NAPA IC14SB or equivalent). Or a 6 volt coil or "12 volt external resistor required" which should measure 1 1/2 ohms across + and - and requires a 1 1/2 ohm external resistor. If you have a start solenoid or start switch bypass wire to input post on coil use the 6 volt with resistor, otherwise I would use the direct 12 volt.

Be sure points are set to manufacturer spec. Your condensers may be failing but are probably not burning out. May be hard to find a dependable new condenser.

Be sure points gap, timing, and plug firing order is per manufacturer spec.

For positive ground system, + post on coil to side post on distributor. For negative ground, - post on coil to side of distributor.

Fill in the blanks. 6 or 12 volts and if 12 volts do you have a ballast resister or a true 12 volt coil?? Where are you gettign your parts?? TSC or some place good like O'Reilly's or NAPA??
#2 stop throwing parts at it trouble shoot. Be sure you have the point gap correct, at all 4 lobes.
Do you have the correct plug wires as in true copper wire plug wires??

The MF part number for the coil is 1028569M91. NAPA part number BK S67080, Sparex part number S.67080. Should have internal resistor.

NO coil has an internal resister they are just wound so as to work on 12 volts with out a resister simple as that but NO internal resister

Thanks for all the replies. I have actually been getting parts from Yesterdays Tractor. I will try one of the local parts stores for a coil. The coil I ordered said internal resistor and have been setting the points at 22. Will try some of your other recommendations also. Thanks.
