oil debate.....Manual says straight 30wt but there are others that say 10w -30 or 15w-40 oil

This is just my 2 cents, but most people I
know prefer 15W-40 diesel oil because it has
nr at least had a higher zinc content which
is good for the old flat tappet engines. I
use 15W-40 in most of mine as well as a
bottle of ZDDP zinc additive. All in all you
would be fine to use any of those you listed
because the oils of today are far better
than what there was when those tractors were
new. After all just about any oil is better
than no oil. This is just my opinion so use
your own judgement on what you choose to
use. As there have been many arguments on
here regarding what oil is best to use

I agree with Hamilton.

use whatever oil the weather dictates. thinner for winter thicker for summer. there was no multigrade oils when these tractors were new.

That's because the modern oil wasn't around when the manual was printed.
