Was looking at upgrading the valves in my 44 pulling tractor and doing some port and polishing while I had it apart what valves are most people using.
Thanks.

Id take the time to go to a performance engine shop and have them give you their opinion . I always have them install inserts and a three angle valve grind to help it breathe. Might well have them give the head the works while you got it out,.lets us know what happens ?

I Agree. Your Head is most important part. Take your manifold also. Read the articles below about carbs. Make sure they have a flow bench. On my allis I put dowel pins in head to hold manifold perfect. Then made it match. Doubt if exhaust needs anything.

The problem is the head chamber design does not allow much room for larger OD valves. I used OEM sized valves but had custom seats made with a larger ID so I could remove A LOT of cast to open up the ports. I opened up the manifold as well. I took .25 off the surface of the head. I have 67 hp with standard stroke, M&W pistons, and a reground cam. I can do head work myself, so it did not cost much to do the upgrade.
