It looks like an I244. Massey Harris made about 800 of these for the Air Force. Should have some big brass ID tags it.

It has tags but they look alummiun tags can't read anything but the numbers the frame # is 1244c 2214 the motor is a 6cy flat head with a alummiun tags and the motor MFSA 2446 1336.Wondering what kind of hp it has. For some reason it has a 24v generator & starter. Thanks again all help appreciated

From the picture, it appears to be an industrial model. Could the first character be an I instead of a 1? The engine/ sheet metal combination indicates a 44-6. Can you find a serial number stamped to the left of the shifter?

Yes you are right it is a I the # on the left top of the shifter is a I 244G.

And it looks like there is a date on the side of the case the # is H-6-05 thanks again for all the help !

I'm far from being an expert on these. Tags could be aluminum. The ones I've seen were brass. They were made in 55 & 56. As far as the 24 volt system, The tractor had a electro magnet on it that the Air Force used to get any metal off the air strips.

It looks like the military version of the 44-6. It has a Continental 226 CID engine, with about 44 PTO horsepower, a little less than the 4 cylinder 44. The engine was the same one that had been used in the 101 Senior. Probably very rare!

You have a 1955 Massey Harris I-244 Air Force with PTO. There were 242 made with PTO. 708 made in total. They also made them for the Navy. The engine is a 244 cu in Continental. The brackets on the side are for a large magnet that was attached below the frame for sweeping runnways and aircraft carriers. Some had cabs on them as well. Mine is #2154 with a cab. One is restored with working magnet in Wabash Indiana.
