Matabo Grinder

I picked up a Matabo grinder (11-125) with a 5/8 arbor. It is the "quick Connect model. Anyway, been using it with screw on flapper discs and wire wheels. Works great. Now my question... I want to get some stripper discs, and I'm not sure if I should get 5/8 arbor, or 7/8 arbor. My old grinder had the nut you tighten with two prong wrench, this one just has the weird "quick connect" nut. Since the strippers are not threaded, I'm not sure if I can use 7/8 like I did on my old one. Can I just find a two hole nut for it?

If it has a 5/8" arbor. You need to buy disc that fit a 5/8" arbor.
You try to use a 7/8 disc on a grinder with a 5/8" arbor. You are asking for trouble.

Specs I find say it has a 5/8” 11-UNC arbor. Not sure how common that is. Go to your local hardware or home improvement store and see if that is the nut they have for other name brands. If so an it has a 7/8” centering step I think you would be in business.

A regular nut has a step for the 7/8 hole.
The other side is flat for a 5/8 hole.
I'm not sure about your Quick Change feature.

The Metabo grinder he has is made by Hitachi. All Hitachi power tools have been rebranded Metabo for a few years now.

The quick connect arbor does not have threads. So a nut cannot be used on one. 5/8" grinding wheels are fairly common. And about anyone that carries accessories for power tools will have them.

The arbor most certainly has threads. I own 2 of them. The quick connect nut spins on. The instructions for changing a wheel tell you to engage the spindle lock just before the wheel stops spinning. That jars the nut loose so you can remove it with your fingers. No tools needed.

I just grab the wheel with a gloved hand with the spindle locked, and crack the nut loose.

I have 8 Metabo grinders. Would not own anything else. The arbor is a standard 5/8 -11 thread. The nut to hold the 7/8 in disk on it to be tightened by hand only. No tools are needed. It has a little slip clutch built in so that if you overload the grinder it will slip. You can use a regular style nut on it also. I have done it many time. I use cut-off wheels-flap wheels and regular 1/4 in wheels on all of mine. I have a 6 in that I only use the Slicer wheels on for cutting. They all have the same nut.
