McCormick Grain Drill

I have this cut down version of a McCormick seed drill. This half measures 49 inches disk to disk. The only thing I can find is on the right indicator it says 7. I have checked with International and cannot find anything that old. I am looking for information on this drill.

7 is thw width between openers as it is an 8 disk machine makes 7 spaces of 7" for your 49" total. As was said before made from a model M drill from late 40's to mid 50's

It looks like they did a decent enough job, parts and owners books for the model M pop up on eBay or are probably available here.

Nice to see it re-purposed rather than scrapped. There is one in nice shape in the scrap line at my local salvage place. I'd go after
it but I already have two.

IH also made 7ft. press drills; they could be coupled together. My cousin put three of them together to make a 21 ft. drill My brother made a duplex hitch and pulled two 14ft JD press drills to plant 28 ft. at a time.

I don't understand the 1/2 width extra bin on the back, otherwise a nice little drill made perhaps from a 1/2 of a full sized drill.

As mentioned, M models have manuals all around. Saw several at Pioneer Power last week.

If that gauge you picture affects the main oats/wheat bin, that is how you set it. If it affects the small half bin in back, I'm not sure what that's all
about. My M has moepre of a wedge shaped seed adjuster, not familiar with this square looking one you picture.
