Mccormick MF drill question

What do these 2 levers do on the rear end
of the drill? I know the cone shaped gear
they are leading too is what's used to set
seed rate. Also is there a way to jack
the drill up off the ground and test it to
see if everything is turning in the
big/little seed boxes? (I'm assuming
drill only works when it's "in the ground"
and not in "transport mode" up off the
ground as I stood on the rear board while
my dad pulled it but nothing was spinning
inside the seed boxes. Thanks

I haven't been around a MF drill but, been around and used the 100 press drill plenty,there isn't anything spinning inside the grain box, the feed shaft on the bottom turns slow, That's the square shaft on the bottom,put a cresent wrench on it,to make sure it's not stuck ! That drill is ground driven bye one of the wheels,or both,follow the power train, you can jack up one side and turn the wheel to check it! That lever looks like it a master clutch,it's got a trip rope too doesn't it ?

Looks like the rod when pulled disconnects the gears for setting or to stop sowing on that side. Looks like it could use a good drink of oil on there too.

It yes originally had a rope for mechanical lift but that has been removed and changed over to hydrolic lift. If you go back a couple pages I posted more pictures under a different post about this drill.

That's what I was thinking but wanted to hear it from someone who knows more than me. Lol
