McCormick Mower Wheel Question

I have a question regarding a McCormick number 9 mower. Im rebuilding it but do not want to use the existing rubber tires. They are expensive and all my other equipment has steel wheels. That said, I have yet to locate any steel wheels. I do have the opportunity to get an old number 4 (new model) with steel wheels. Does anyone know if theyre interchangeable? Id like them 4 solely for the wheels but if they wont fit I wont buy it.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks

NO, they will not fit, only from the No. 9 will work. That No. 9 mower was the last model horse drawn mower IHC built and it was in the 40's. The No. 4 was built starting in the 1800,s. The model lignuo was the No. 4, Big 4, No. 6, Big 6, No 7 and it used 2 different wheels followed by the No. 9. And with rubber tires I suspect your mower id not a horse drawn model but the tractor version that used different gears for higher tractor speeds and is the rarest version of any except for the No. 7 tractor mower. I do have the parts book or at least I did but I sold a bunch of books for the entire ;ine of the wheel driven mowers.

Thanks for the explanation! That saves me from buying it and then having two broken mowers to rebuild bc the parts arent interchangeable 🙂
