measuring drawbar?

I am trying to figure out a drawbar for my JD B. Is the length measured from axle center horizontally or straight line. If so I can use rear housing casting mark as a reference and measure back from there. I have 11.2x36 rears and PTO. Doesn't leave alot of room back there.

It's measured horizontally from the center of the axle. Yes, if your axle housings have a casting seam on top of them, you can measure from that. You could also tie a heavy nut onto a piece of string and then tie the string around the axle housing and let it hang straight down, then measure from the string.

I always measure from the rim . pull a line across the farthest point on the rims drop a plum line and measure to the drawbar in your case a 36 inch wheel and a 1 inch lip you will be 19 inches out .

Measured from the centerline of the axle straight back (horizontal). On a B, it's 4" from the center of the axle to the mounting surface of the back plate.
