Messed Up Again

Messed up again by over filling the oil pan doing an oil change.

The bottom part of the dipstick is greyish-black and I kept seeing the level at "add oil".

By the time I saw the actual level by tilting the dipstick in the sunlight, I was way over the "FULL" mark.

After starting up the engine and letting it run a bit the oil level went down to over the "FULL" mark by 1/2" - 5/8"

I will buy one of those syringe style devices if I can find one.

Taking the pan plug out and putting it back in a fraction of a second does not appeal to me.

Others have said it's not a problem.

Might I suggest a vacuum pump and a hose down the dipstick port? A little over full is ok, but I personally wouldn't run it quite that high.

Don't remove the plug, just loosen it a bit and catch the drippings. IMO over-filling is a problem, the oil will be sloshed around by the crankshaft and create foam that further stresses seals.
