Metal prices

I have noticed the prices of metal has gone up a lot. I took not very clean copper pipe in and got 3.65 lb. Aluminum cans got me 2.25 lb. I am not busy mowing this time of the year, I am going to clean up more and take it in. Dad really like recycling metal. If some of his old farming equipment was no longer used it was cut up. Stan

I took in some iron earlier this week, $85/ton shred and $95/ton unprepared in Fargo. The yard was overflowing. Have some other metals to take in, but didn't have time to mess with it. Wanted to get my trailer unloaded before the weather turned.

Wow that's really a good price for Aluminum cans. Around here they're only bringing 50 cents to 65 cents a pound.

One of the reasons I don't frequent metal recycling locations is the stuff that's on the ground and can ruin a $150 tire especially when what I sell no way approaches that amount.

A few months ago, I took several bags of uncrushed garbage bags to the local scrape yard. I got a whopping $.15/lb.
With the cost of even using cheapie garbage bags, it wasn’t worth it. A few comments said it was because of my location, and they were right.
I now take my cans to the local drop off recycler where the proceeds go toward a mentally-challenged resident house. I feel a lot better doing it…especially after previously getting $.15/lb.

I really don't care what scrap prices are. I clean up my scrap pile once a year and take it to the recycler close by, I'm happy to get rid of ith scrap and happy if I get enough money to buy a HAPPY MEAL. :DAnd pay for the gas,

I sold about 10 pounds of spent cartridge brass this fall, only got $1.60 a pound for it. We had picked up a lot of it while hiking in the mountains of Arizona, but you have to sort that with a magnet, there were some AK47 steel cases mixed in.

Some yards are better than others about that. The yard I go to has a paved area where vehicles travel and they have a powered broom. They do a good job of keeping the roadways cleaned up.
