What is the approximate years the MF 10 baler was built? What are they worth now in average condition? What are some of the problem areas of the baler?

Hi, 1959 thru 1963. A great heavy built baler w/
excellent knotters. Down side would be a baler
stored outside. The plunger slide rails will
build up w/ rust and wedge the plunger. Value?
I don't think older balers bring very much.Chuck

I still run a #10 baler and love it, plus side is it pulls easy, it"s quiet and smooth, makes a nice tight bale and never miss ties. Down side is, it has straight teeth on the pickup and won"t pick up light or short hay so I use it for 1st crop only. Have a NH with curved teeth that I use for 2nd and 3rd. It was a one owner that I bought about 6 years ago, had been sitting in a shed for about 20 years, I paid $150. Mike

We purchased ours in 1960 we had two TEA-20 Ferguson's with Hupp combo(no live PTO) it cames with a 2 cylinder gas air cooled Wisconsin engine.
It worked very well... good ground speed with Fergie in 1st gear and Hupp in low range. We added dual wheels (MF option) on the chamber side with the weigth of the engine it had tendency to sink in soft terrain. When we bough our first MF-65 (with live PTO) we removed the engine and installed PTO shaft setup. We still use it...the gas tank is still there. We still use the engine on an irrigation/general purpose water pump.

No high value for general farmer which need high productivity. In good shape for nostagics and small farm I gess no more than $500.

Recals 1/2 century of living.....

I got one and love it. Use it every year to do my 20 acres. Payed $800 for it 8 years ago. With hay at $2 a bale payed for itself in first year. Mine runs great no down side. Lent it out two years ago and guy jammed it up. Bent the knife assembly before I got there to help. Got new knife assembly, knife, and pin from dealer. I would recomend if for the small farmer. I would suggest running it and putting 5 bales through it before you buy. All timing an knotting issues will show up in that time. Everyone I met will tell you it worked last year. Good luck
