MF 1020 pressure plate

Trying to find a pressure plate for my MF1020. My understanding form the distributor is that the manufacturers consolidated the pressure plates to make them universal to some of the older tractors . Unfortunately the MF1020 bolt and alignment pins are a. 5/16 " inboard of holes in new pressure plate. I was told that I need an old stock item or modify the new pressure plate. Any suggestions?

I don't know of any older MF tractors that uses a small diaphragm style clutch that the 1020 uses, the MF part number for the pressure plate for a 1020 is 3281105M91.

Hello JSilverP welcome to YT! Here is likely the way
prfarmer looked up your clutch number on the AGCO
online parts catalog unless he has a hard copy parts
book. Go to Section 50, there you click the key number in the diagram and
takes you to the part description and number. A web
search by the part number shows up multiple results
offering the clutch pressure plate. One offering is by
All States Ag Parts the owner of YT. The 2nd link is to
their part.
Hopefully you know how to Favorite or Bookmark the
AGCO parts book. If you click Table of Contents in their
page at the upper left it will take you to main index for
all the parts sections of your tractor. That site is not
the speediest so give it a little time to work. I really
doubt that all those clutch plates being offered need
..modified.. your parts guy should just learn how to say
our company does not offer that part for your model.

I keep seeing Massey 205 having the same or compatible pressure plate . The same after market part number as the one I ordered for the 1020 comes up

Thank you for the AGCO info . I had difficulty navigating their site.

I thought the same way about the clutch plates online all needing the same modification. The company I purchased the clutch plate from had me on a conference call with the tech guy at the distributor. We took measurements ( bolt hole separation at diameter 9 1/4" C to C) and he looked for a couple days for a "old stock" clutch plate. His report was that the new CP was a consolidated version to fit many applications and that the MF1020 was not included for some reason. He also said that he is the distributor to a lot of the online sales company.
His suggestions were:
- have my clutch plate rebuilt
- have machine shop modify fly wheel to accept
- hesitant on modifying new clutch plate
Looking into rebuild option and hope to find a "oldStock" one

So the only difference is that bolt holes, dowel pin holes are bigger in diameter (the hole pattern is the same), you could drill the holes for the dowel pins in the flywheel bigger, and put bigger dowel pins in.

The dowel pin holes are smaller and all of the holes including dowel holes are 5/16 off to the outside.

Maybe someone local to you can rebuild your old pressure plate like a industrial/commercial brake, and clutch rebuilder (it's getting harder to find places that do it). Either that or have a competent machinist redrill your flywheel for a new one.

I do not know where you are, but give up on that one
guy and get another one somewhere else. If it has the
same problem then I would concern myself with finding
out why or how it has to be modified. What about the
one I linked, is the price to high? Is this guy you are
getting it from is giving you a screamer deal but his
part just will not fit? Just FYI the pressure plate alone
is $400 something from AGCO. Have you ordered
things off the internet before? Millions of people do it.
Call ASAP and ask them if they will pay the shipping to
send it back if it does not fit. I cannot figure it out,
tractor parts in this day and age are not a one man
show. So did you get into the AGCO site and find the
diagram and click on number 1 to get the part number?

I did go to the AGCO site and the part there is #72104295
That is the same part number as the part I received .
The online dealer has been working on getting a part that will match up with the tractor and called today to confirm and compare measurements with a part that he found through his sources. He is having it shipped to him and then to me.
