MF 1105 hydralic problems

My MF 1105 tractor lost all hydralic pressure. The 3 point wouldn't raise and then the PTO and power steering went out. The tank is full of oil and the pump shaft is turning on the front of the crankshaft.

Can anyone point me in the right direction on diagnosing the problem?

have you cleaned the suction screen on the bottom of the tranny,or changed the filter in the front? You didn`t say if the remotes or multi-power are gone too.If so I`d suspect the charge pump.If they still work, maybe the priority valve.Just a couple suggestions. You may have to get a shop manual and some gauges and do some testing on the hydraulic system. These systems are very sensitive to the fine metal grit that goes along with 30-35 year old iron. Good luck.

Wonder if the splines on the PTO shaft aren't worn off. Do you have a slight rumbling or chatter when the engine is running that was not there before this happened? Listen closely at the clutch area or between the transmission and center housing. The hyd charge pump, which is in the center housing, is driven by the PTO shaft, which has two splined couplings. My guess is that one of them is caput.

Is this shaft or coupling accessable from the outside or does the tractor need to be split? I was using a 5" rotary tiller when it broke. There was a bang and everything stopped working in the hydraulics.

The power steering, PTO, 3 point hitch and remotes quit working. I believe that there is a noise now in the tractor coming from under the seat when I drove the tractor back from the field.

I appreciate the help with diagnosing the problem.

I didn't check the screen or filter yet. I didn't know where to start looking for the problem. I checked the fluid level in the hydraulic tank.

I was using a 5' rotary tiller when it broke. There was a bang when I turned on the PTO. Now everything hydraulic doesn't work.

Thanks for your help.

Bill

sir the coupling is broken between the trans and rear housing . the tractor will have to be split between the two. the coupling is only about 3 inchs long and connects the pto / pump shafts . this is a common problem with this model .good luck
