MF 124 baler

Got this 124 baler a while back and hadn't been able to get it to tie. Got serious about it this week, tried it out,still no tieing, twine staying on bill hooks. Took baler to shade, pivoted the knotter up, and sandpapered the bill hook, but did not sandpaper inside the jaws. Got one side to tieing pretty good. On the other side, the roller on the bill hook is very loose. I'm wondering if I should get a new bill hook. Any thoughts?

When the 124's first came out they were notorious for not tying. We had a mechanic and factory service rep that lived on it for about 2 weeks before they got it to work.Not sure what did it as they tried about everything

Ours gave us fits until we switched to sisil (spelling) twine. Some of the older balers do not like the plastic stuff.

Ive got a #12 i dont know if the knotters are the same but ive had that problem once in a while. i just clean it off and a way i go again, only happens about 1 in a 150 bales though.Mine has chrome bill hooks and the polish on the one is wearing through, maybe that is the problem with yours.

No chrome left on bill hooks. Replacing one bill hook is sounding better.

Polish the bill hooks with emery cloth or mabey a 300 grit sand paper. Polish the rust off and then sharpen the twine knives. That ~should~ do it.

Need to polish the inside of the bill hook. I've found that a little bit of Silicone spray lub helps as well.
