MF 135 Oil

I am new to farming and just bought my first tractor, a MF 135. Seems like it uses more oil than gas. My first question is what weight of oil should I be using. I am in east Texas where temperatures will range from 25-105. Thanks.

A good multivis oil like 10W30, 10W40, 15W40 or even 20W50 would do you. Single weight 30W will also work. Are the plugs fouled with a black oily substance? If you are burning oil you probably have either stuck or worn rings and/or worn valve guides and seals. Soaking the cylinders with ATF or MMO for about three days might help free stuck rings. The heavier weight oils will help you get a few more hours out of the tractor but they won't cure the problem.

Thanks. I'm going to follow a recommendation from another post and try the 15W40 Rotella with some Lucas oil stabilizer mixed in 50/50, replace the washer around the oil plug and then clean everything real well and see if I can figure out where all of the oil is going.
