MF 135 Power Steering Issue

I recieved the parts to repair my MF 135 with Power steering at the base of the steering column. The rack in the PS Housing assembly broke. I am not sure why and was concerned when I put the assembly back together today with the new part. I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel there is a little hitch when the Pitman arms get to the half way point. It is like the arms pause for a split second and you can feel a bit of bind in the steering wheel. It then moves on and is fine the rest of the way through the turn. I am not sure what is causing this hitch in the movement. The rack uses shims to adjust the pressure on the rack forcing down onto the steering gear. I am not sure if the hitch means it is too tight or too loose. ANyone ever messed with the power steering rack or have a MF135 that does this when turning.

Do you have the service manual? The steering gear box has in/out arm shaft adjustments, and the rack support plate has shims for its adjustment. They MUST be done in the correct sequence, or it will never steer right.

Yes I have the service manual and have seen the adjustments. It calls out to make adjustments using pounds of pull at center of the steering wheel adjusting in a specific order as you mentioned. Very difficult to get measurement without special tool. I guess I will go back and confirm earlier adjustments and go from there. Thanks for the suggestion.

Just a Guess.... Maye your Hitch is the Rack trying to skip a tooth. Something caused the breakage, Shims worn? Gears worn? Lost motion?
