MF 135 seat bracket hinge

The seat hinge /pins need renewing. No prob, plenty of new ones online.
However, struggling to detach the old one from the main assy. I've managed to remove one pin which freed the actual seat but there remains one fastening the hinge to the base that secures to the top plate.The pin is bent and I think I understand the theory and I can cut the old one off but am I right in thinking that the pins on the new one should knock through and are held by the hinge bracket tongue locating between the shoulders in the centre of each pin? Is it meant to be a friction fit or does the tongue need a bash to seat it home between the pin shoulders?
It's just that it seems once fitted the pins are impossible to remove.

Yes, they are difficult to remove but by
the same token they cannot come out on
their own. One clout is all that is
needed to lock the pin. If you buy a new
hinge plate you will find that they are
thinner than the original and
consequently will wear quicker at the
points of pin contact.
