MF 135 weights

I have discarded the cement filled oil drum I used to have as a counterbalance on the rear of my MF 135 (for a FEL) in favour of this much neater and more easily managed solution. Easier to fit and remove, and adjustable for weight. I'm sure some of you guys will be ahead of me on this one!

Hello James, not exactly ahead of you but on a similar path. Great idea as long as you have some means to prevent the weights swinging. I used the MF pin bar with a fabricated bracket to prevent the pinbar turning which also had a lip to hang 4 wafer weights on. I use mine when carrying out hydraulic adjustments as part of the setting sequence.ales

Hi David, thanks for comments.
I have had no problem with the weights swinging, or with them trying to rotate the bar. They seem, by good luck, to be pretty well balanced, they are clamped together and stopped from sliding sideways by two pins dropped into the drawbar either side.
Cheers, Jim

Your photo is the first time I have seen the sway bars attached to the differential. Is this because it is just the way the drawbar is mounted or is there a reason to have them mounted there? Thanks for your time.

In the past....my MF FE 35 X had a Loader mounted. I installed the Stabilizer Bars so as the lift arms can not drift down with Traction weight attached. The hydraulic Pressure was being utilized to operate the loader:

These are not 'sway bars' or 'stabiliser' bars. These are (grey) Ferguson adjustable drawbar stays - used to fix the height of the drawbar on grey fergies. Can be used, as here, on a MF135 since the geometry is exactly the same, although a 'swinging' drawbar came as standard with these later tractors. Jim

Thanks Jim. My question stemmed from my Massey. I have sway bar pins under the axle and I wondered why my tractor would have those casting bosses on the top of the differential. When I saw yours, I wondered if Massey put them there for that reason.
