I am going to go look at a MF 135 next week. I saw an ad and unfortunately the guy will be out of town until mid week.

He wasn"t sure what the year of the tractor is. He said there never was a S# plate on the tractor. He did say that it is a 4 cylinder Continental engine and it was the last year that MF used a Continental.

Does anyone know what year MF quit using this motor? And does anyone have any opinion on the 135?

It has a little over 1200 hours on it. The tractor was gone through and had hoses, belts and a couple of seals replaced. It has a new paint job and the tin looks good.

I do not have one but from what I have read here anyone that has one or has had one advise that they are a VERY good tractor. I don't think you could go wrong with one. 1200 hours is not all that much and it sounds like it's in good shape. It is on my list of tractors I want!

I think that is the same model MF 135 that my friend has, one of the first one's made.

His is a 1964 I believe, and it has a Z145 engine.

I have an old 1957 TO-35 and the gas engine in mine is a Z134.

My friends is a 4 cylinder engine and has been a good tractor up until the last year or so, they got it hot bush hogging heavy weeds, etc:

Radiator was covered in weed seed and you can not see the front of the radiator easily on this model.

On the old to-35 just raise the hood and you can see into the front of the radiator area.

easy to wash off front of radiator,

anyway that is what happen to the tractor and so far it still runs, but smokes like a old coal burning freight engine.

These little engines do not like to be hot!!!!!

My 202 (industrial) has the Z134 engine and I am quite impressed with it. I can dig with the backhoe in 90°F weather without overheating. I'm not sure what it would take to overheat it, probably some restriction in the radiator as you have said.

my 1971 135 has 3 cyl gas Perkins in it, terrific tractor

if you don"t pay too much for it when you buy, you will have some cash in your hand to fix the reason its being sold

Hey whopper,

I have a MF 135 like the one you"re looking at. The last year they had z145"s officially was 1967. Though from what others have said they were used again briefly in 1975

I would drive it around like the others have said but as a FYI most of the rear worklight wiring is obsolete as are the work warning lights. You can jerry rig something but I called five different states to find a good worklight which cost me around $60 with shipping.

The carb fuel line if you have to replace it is obsolete but available from parts depot. you"ll have to make and it"s pretty easy. My hardware store does inverted flutes cheap.

If your tachometer is broken its obsolete too but supercedes to a new number from agco.

Make sure you get the right manuals. Service manual isn"t as helpful for the z145 vs Perkins but its enough to go with.

Good luck,

Christos
