MF 165 generator replacement

I have a early diesel 165 with a generator (no tach drive) that has ceased generating. All States Ag Parts (www.tractorpartsasap.com) has a new Lucas style generator that is supposed to fit the 165. $100.00 less 15% Thursday and Friday. The original is a Delco.
I had considered a one wire alternator, but that would not work the original gauge lights as I understand it.
Does any one know if the fit works or requires much modification?

The generator or alternator has nothing to do with the green Wico dash lights, if they still work you're lucky.
