MF 165 water pump removal

Anybody have a secret to getting water pump out of tractor after unbolting? The right side looks like I could remove generator and wiggle it out; left side looks to have more room if I could remove the crank case ventilation tube from the tappet cover. so which way do you guys do it? or is there more to it than meets the eye. Does anybody know right off hand if the bolts holding vent tube on the cover are tack welded on back(inside) side of cover? one way or the other I'll be playing with it tomorrow, just thought to see if anybody had any feedback/info. Thanks.

I remove hood radiator. More work but you get a better job and easier. Getting fan etc and not damaging radiator is always a problem. And like you said getting pump out. With radiator off you can get to things and clean gaskets and make sure it’s clean. That’s just my way. Everyone does it different.

Thanks for the reply. You're right that fan is a royal pain. This one was pressed on tighter than any I have ever dealt with before. Once I took the vent pipe off I had enough room to get a chisel on it and pop it loose. I put a couple pieces of cardboard in between the fan and radiator and left two bolts loosely threaded in the pump to prevent any damage to radiator when the thing did let loose. It took quite a bit of force to dislodge it. With vent pipe, fan, and lower radiator hose removed there is ample room to get it out out on the left side of the tractor. The hardest part is the two very top bolts on the pump. They're almost impossible to reach let alone wrench on; lots harder than the fan bolts. And the pump is a bit on the heavy side if you're an old dude like myself.

I like your avatar picture, TO-35, TO-50?
