MF 165D Tachometer Cable Question

Hi there! I'm in the final stages of restoring my 1968 MF 165D // AD4-203. Trying to connect my tach on the back of the engine... the "square hole" is there, ready to plug into. However, I've ordered three different cables off YT and none of them have a long enough drive end to connect to the "square hole" in the engine... I took off the tach drive cover and it seems like I need 1.25 inches of square cable on the driven end... and can't seem to find that length even after talking to staff at YT. Can anyone help me on this? Thank you! Dusty

I'm having the same trouble but mine has a short rod that goes into engine square hole and then cable goes into the rod. Can't seem to find the right cable for mine either

Had the same problem. Wound reshaping the cable end on the old one and reusing it. Luckily the rest of it was good.

Was you able to find one? I’ve ordered a new one and am having the same problem.

Yeah probably won’t reply. Would you happen to have any info on it? MF-165 diesel. It didn’t have a tachometer or cable, I put all new gauges on it. The tachometer cable I ordered the inside cable is to short, while hooked up to the motor I can push the inside cable and it will catch in the slots and not turn, but after hooking it to the tachometer it pulls out and doesn’t turn the tachometer.

Where are you ordering the cables from? Are you ordering by the MF part number or by application (MF 165 Diesel)?

Are all the parts in the picture in place at the back of the camshaft?

This is the one I ordered which replaces the part number in the parts book, 506335M91.

And everything looks there, this is a picture of inside where it goes in the back of the camshaft.
