Mf 175 ignition switch no power

Bought a new ignition switch for a mf 175 that sat for 5 years and it’s getting no power I can start it with a screwdriver on the starter but I didn’t no if there are some fuses or relays some where that could be blown wire looks good that is running from switch the starter?

Just tested ignition plug one prong is hot, could it be neutral ground safety switch if so how could I test that?

I think the 175 diesel is like a number of other MF diesels, you have a key type starter switch, no ignition switch. Gauges and charging are controlled by an oil pressure switch teed into the oil pressure oil behind the boil pressure gauge.

If it is must be start switch it should have battery power to one terminal of the switch all the time. When you turn the switch to start the second terminal should have power which is sent to the neutral start switch. The hi lo lever should be in neutral (start) position for the neutral switch to allow that power from the start switch to go to the starter solenoid.

"wire looks good from Switch to Starter. If there is no "start voltage when the switch is in Start position, the connection/wire/switch is bad. If there is a neutral safety switch, (in that wire) it could be bad. Bypass it and see what happens. Jim

The neutral switch is not a grounding switch. When the hi lo shift lever is in neutral the neutral switch closed and allows power it receives from the dash mounted start switch to pass through to the starter solenoid.

Do you have the Operator's Manual for your 175. I believe the wiring diagram is in it.

Put the Transmission hi lo shifter in "S" (neutral, middle, start).

1. Battery voltage Power at 1 terminal of the start switch, all the time.

2. Same Power on the second terminal of the start switch, when the start switch is engaged.

3. Same Power on both terminals of the neutral start safety switch, when the start switch is engaged.

Unplugged the neutral ground safety switch when I turn the key on wire gets power tried touching them together nothing happened

Are you using a test light or voltmeter to check for power of just unhooking and hooking wires?

You need to use a voltmeter or test light see if power is getting to the starter solenoid when the start switch is engaged. Check power at each point, with the neutral start switch wires in place. When checked if power is reaching the starter solenoid when the starter switch is activated, it would appear the problem is the starter or the solenoid.

If you checked and cleaned all the battery cable connections, on both ends of them?
