I am trying to find out the year of my mf175 diesel I do not have a serial number as the plate by the steering column has been removed, I do have pictures of what it looks like if I can post them on here, i will try, it is the model with the headlights on the front grill, if this helps to narrow it down to a certain year time frame or several year time frame, trying to get a manual that will help me get parts, some parts fit as others definitely for different models,

had it awhile bought it from a person that refurbished old tractors he told me it was 1964 not sure how close he was as am having trouble narrowing it down with no serial tag I am in live oak fl he bought it in Mississippi

Engine block and transmission/gearbox castings have codes that can sometimes lead to figuring out the approximate tractor assembly date. If there is an unknown tractor history, sometimes owners make one good tractor from two or three parts tractors, so you may want to google all the codes you find.

I have several numbers written down from the block and various places on the tractor if that would help, so far I have talked to a MF dealer and he told me without the serial number I am out of luck I was hoping to at least get close on the year or years to be able to order a manual

The first year for MF175 was in 1965 and ended in 1975.The first serial number was 644000001. Only built 3 in 65. Built 209 in 66. In 67 the serial number was changed during production from 644000214(beginning number) to 9A 10001.My serial book doesn't show how many were built before the change. The starting number for 1975 was 9A207681. Then they built the 200 series.

I agree that your tractor is a European model because of the lights in the grill and the shape of the fenders. I don't think the year is important when getting a manual. There were a few changes during the production run. A good manual should address those. Suggest you contact David P. from South Wales. He is the resident expert on Masseys from across the pond.

should take you to the free AGCO online parts book 651190, pg 290
Look at item #'s 6 and 7 the shift nobs and the (A) and (B) note as explained for the use of each by serial #'s at the bottom of the page. Based on the serial #'s, my SWAG is your tractor is a 66 or early 67 before the serial 9A numbers began. Or at least it's a place for you to compare other part #'s to serial #'s.???

Thank you for the reply, how would I contact the David P. from south wales??? I would like to have a manual that is at least close to this model as possible, return shipping on parts that aren,t right is a pain and costly, I have a long way to go with this tractor
