Looking at the number of Massey Ferguson's 180s made there was not too many made were they a pretty dependable tractor and what would their TopSpeed be for tractor rides?

There were several around here. If it has the twelve speed MP transmission top speed is about 19 MPH. The six speed top would be about 15 MPH. Brother still has the 180 dad bought new in 1968.

The 180 is the rowcrop version of the 175. Most came with 15.5x38 tires. I have seen a few with 18.4x30 tires. Top speed with the 6 speed transmission without Multi-Power would probably be around 15 mph. A 6 speed with M-P would probably do about 20 mph. I think the 180 was discontinued before the 8 speed tranny was introduced.

My long time Massey tech says there’s very late 180 with an 8 speed on a muck farm north of me.

Very late 175/180 tractors had either an eight speed or twelve speed MP option, the six speed was dropped. My brother has an eight speed 175 loader tractor. Dealer I worked for only sold the twelve speed models as he didn't like the eight speed.

I think it would be a great tractor for rides.
The high mounted open station flat platform gives an excellent view and gives some separation from heat of the transmission.
Driver position slightly ahead of axle also helps the ride and tilt and telescope steering wheel. Always felt it was a nimble tractor in the hay field.

I have seen 175s with the 8 speed. Does the 8 speed 180 still have the dash shift?

I've never seen an eight speed 180, but shift was probably on the dash same as all others. I sold an MF 1105 eight speed to my brother years ago with shift on the dash too.

I have always been under the impression that the 180 was dropped before the rest of the series. I remembered something last nite. The MF dealer closest to us quit selling 180s. He said the 175 was just as much tractor for less money and the 1080 was a lot more tractor for a little more money. Therefore there was no reason to sell a 180.

I enjoy the 180 for tractor rides. As others have said being up on the platform gets you away from the heat and you have a nice view.

One for sale in Iowa has multi power all new tires and 4500 hrs straight tin wants $7500 for sounds high to me.
