MF 202 power steering lines

Have been working on the power steering system and need to replace on of the lines from the hydraulic cylinder to the steering column area. The connection at the cylinder is easy but the connection at the steering column area is very very difficult without taking a lot of parts off. What is the easiest and best way to get at these connections? I have thought about cutting out part of the bottom of the battery box which might give me access from the top. I would appreciate all the help I can with this problem
