MF 202 with 100 series loader

I have had the above tractor and loader for only a short while and think that the loader is low on hydraulic oil. The manual for the loader says that there is a dip stick in the breather/ filler opening
but there is not. ( probably broken off ) I measured down from the top to the oil level and it is 17 1/2 inches. Can anybody tell me what this dimension should be when the level is at full ?
I can take a guess at it but I think it would be best if I knew the full dimension to prevent under or over filling. I would appreciate any help I could get with this.
Thanks, Ken Spenceley

I have a MF202 with the same loader on it. The hydro tank is one of the upright frame members. I remove the breather to pour oil in there. Maybe a foot and a half down on the frame member there is a small drain plug. Remove that plug and pour oil in the top until it starts coming out that drain hole. Put the plug back in and you ar in business. My 8N has the same loader on it also.

Thanks very much for your reply. I looked for the drain plug that you mentioned but I do not see one but my service manual for this loader says there is a dip stick on the breather/filler fitting that I
think has broken off. Can you give me an accurate measurement from the top of the upright ( filler hole ) to this small drain plug. Maybe on some of these loaders they used different methods for
measuring the oil level. Thanks again for your response to my question.

Ken, First off, there should be an aluminum ID plate on one of the big uprights to give you the loaders model number. The Massey Ferguson loader on my 8N is a model 101A. The loaders cylinders are single action only.

The loader on my MF202 is also a Massey Ferguson. It is model 102M. This loader has double acting cylinders on it. The picture below show this loader. You can see the little pipe plug I was talking about at the top arrow. The distance between the main loader pin at the top with the grease zirc on it is 14". At the bottom arrow you see the main drain plug.

On my 8N's loader that distance discussed above is 11". I don't know why the difference. At first glance, the two loaders are identical. The only difference is that the loader on the MF202 has double acting cylinders.

Actually the 101A on my 8N has the controls located on the left side upright.
The 102M has the loader controls on the right side upright as you see in the picture.

Thanks very much for the picture of your Mf202 loader. From the dimensions you gave and the picture showing the location of filler opening ( which is lower than mine )I was able to determine
the full level for the oil. Again , thanks a lot for your help.

I have that loader on a 202 also. Believe either upright can be set up to be the reservoir, but on mine it's the one on the left as you sit in the seat. The breather cap is on top of the upright, flat blade screw removes the cap, then use the screwdriver run through the opening in the cast piece threaded down into the upright to unscrew and remove it. The dipstick, if there, should be hanging off the bottom of the cast piece when you remove it from the upright. Think it hangs from an eyebolt or a few links of chain. It's about a foot long, I'll measure mine when I get home, but the capacity of the whole system is such that if you're anywhere close to that you should be fine. Seems I might have done this once before years ago, may be in the archives if they go back that far.

I remove that cast piece you speak of so I can get a funnel in there for easy filling. But, there is no dipstick hanging from it.

Might have been a long time ago but not now. Next time I remove that cast piece, I'll check to see if there is any evidence of a dipstick that used to hang from it.

Thanks for that info.

I have filled mine to 9 inches from the top and this seems to work okay. It would still be interesting to know how far down the full mark is on your dip stick.
Thanks very much for response.
