The 232 bucket (tilt) cylinder parts drawing shows a wire clip holds the gland head in the barrel, not a nut. Is your cylinder like this one? If not, you need to get your post count up a few more (more than 5 posts on record seems to be the number needed) and post pictures of your cylinder. Or you can go down to the Site Comments Forum and ask YT Support to allow you to post pictures.

Yes, you'll need to pull the wire clip out. Hopefully the hook's not broken off the end and you can catch it with a pick or small screwdriver and work it
out. Slow and steady and maybe some heat depending on how long it's been there. Try rotating the rod in the same direction as you pull, might help the
gland rotate if it's loose enough. Don't remember if there's a way to help turn the gland from inside the cylinder end.
