what is the difference in the Massey 240 and the 231, where are they made and the pros and cons, Thanks again.

The 231 was in production for 10 years, from 1989-1999. It was manufactured in Poland by URSUS, under license by Massey Ferguson. They are good tractors. They have the Perkins AD3.152 direct injection 3 cylinder diesel engine. 38 engine horsepower and 34 PTO horsepower. Ive had my 1998 Massey Ferguson 231 for 15 years now. Replaced the head gasket last year and had the injector pump resealed last week. If you have any questions about the 231, let me know. I have a lot of information and will help you if I can.

thanks for the info, i'm going to look at a 231 soon and didn't know anything about them

My 240-S WAS MADE IN TUrkey. No problems, at all. AD3-152 engine, 48 hp, make sure you warm it up at 1200 RPM, for 3 minutes, operated her at 1700 RPM. Don't just lope around, run her at 1700 RPM. Only thing I would change is the grind-her-and-find-her transmission. I'd prefer some sort of synchro. Sips diesel. Sort of aaPITA to fill the tank in the center of the hood, with a FEL mounted on. But a great tractor.

Don't know the difference between the 2, But I have owned a MF240 loader tractor for the past 20 years,1988 vintage that I bought from original owner with 500 hours on it. I now have a little over 2200 hours on it and has been the most trouble free tractor I have owned. Normal maintenance is all that I have done. As stated earlier, transmission demands you stop and wait a few seconds before changing gears, I have learned patience!!
