MF 240 Injector pump question?

My 240 is leaking fuel around the fuel shutoff shaft or lever on the injector pump. My question is can I replace the seal or packing around this shaft from the outside or does the pump have to come apart. The leak is getting worse everyday and I really need this tractor the next few weeks. Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks , Robert in Md.

If it"s anything similar, as in 100 series MF-tractors, the pump top cover needs to come out. But no worries, it"s an easy job. Just be careful, when lifting the cover, there is a spring inside, that needs to be mounted back on the same holes that it is originally mounted. The shaft has o-rings on it to seal it.
