What's the best way to take off the
hydraulic fluid filter housing? I
can't get that thing to budget. Are
these Perkins engines easy to get
parts for?

If I recall, there is a hex or 1/2" square socket on the bottom of the filter housing. Use a breaker bar to remove it, it is a standard thread so turn it left to remove.

I had no problems getting parts for anything on my MF255 with the Perkins ad4.203 when I rebuilt it about 10 years ago.

Here is a picture of mine, it has a hex on the bottom.

Impact wrench I know, it does not fool around spent 1 hour trying to get move with a wrench. Get any part you need.

This is on my list of things to do on my MF265.... Do you know what filter to buy to put in it?

Make sure you air filters are not dirty. If you have not replaced them, the replace both filters.
Dirty air filters result in lots of black smoke under load and loss of power.
