MF 2607 heats up

MF 2607 heats up under low/no load use. Have tried everything suggested by MF with no success. Last attempt is temp sender and gauge. Anybody have same problem with late model MF?

How hot? What have you tried that was suggested by MF? Not much sense in us suggesting something just to have you say you did that.

Gauge goes to the red after 20 min or so in light duty...will cool down intermittently with cool water sprayed on radiator, then right back up.

Have--removed thermostat, checked water pump (belt tension/no leaks/no squeaks/good flow), coolant full, radiator cap good, cleaned radiator well many times, no head gasket leaks, etc- standard MF troubleshooting.

Low hours, strong runner.

You say cleaned radiator well. internal, external, and how?

Are you running an antifreeze mix? If so what ratio?

Do you have a temp gun/non-contact thermometer? Scan the radiator top to bottom and side to side. Look to see that the flow top to bottom is across the entire radiator not just a narrow channel from top to bottom.

You should hook up a good quality gauge with numbers on it, not just color ranges, when you have a problem like this, so you have actual temperature degrees.

Is water circulating well? As in is it possible the vanes on the water pump are worn/rusted away and you are not getting full flow circulation.

Changed the temp sender today and still heating up.

Scanned engine while gauge was in the red (after 20 min at PTO rpm for 3-pt sprayer) and got:

180 deg ave on radiator
195 deg on water pump
205-212 deg on injector side of block
220-225 deg on exhaust/turbo side of block

Gauge cooled down to halfway after disengaged pto and left at fast idle for 15 min.

MF mechanic insists water pump ok if not leaking or making noise? With these new high pressure systems, hard to judge flow across radiator.
Low hour 2020 tractor, so can't imaging rusted out internal parts on pump?

Hard to figure but don't want to replace $700 pump if unnecessary.

If it cools down when you spray water on the radiator, are you getting good air flow? The wrong size fan belt can cause heating issues. On my JD 4020, if you can't see the grass move the fan isn't turning up to speed.

Factory belt with proper tension...strong air flow. I guess its down to radiator or water pump.

Water pump impellers can fail without a leak or making any noise.

Just took water pump apart...impeller perfect (no broken fins, no slippage on shaft) channels on both sides of pump clear and clean.

Guess its got to be the radiator?

It was the radiator...so much for dealer flush. IMO the engine radiator is not big enough and is located in a tough place to reach for adequate clean out. Several other cooler/radiator units stacked in front of it.

I thought I had the radiator on my gas 4020 clean, however when I actually removed it from the tractor there was some baked in oil and dirt in the center behind the oil cooler which I wasn't seeing. Sounds like you had a similar issue, a good cleaning of the radiator fins and the fins on the other coolers will hopefully resolve your issue.
