MF 285 steering

I am wrapping up finishing a rebuilding on a 1981
MF 285 and thought I was done...then steering
fluid start coming out of the top of the steering
column.

Is this a simple seal replacement or do I have a
more serious problem?
I talked myself into using ATF in the steering
pump rather than go to get the MF fluid. Did I
screw up by doing this?
The tractor has been sitting for several years before I got it.

I put seals in a 245 a few years ago may be the same.The seal kit I got had good directions and was able to replace after removing the steering wheel.
